China's output of industrial alumina up by 8.0% YoY in 2025

Jan. 24, 2026 - In 2025, the output of industrial alumina in China reached 92.446 million tons, representing a year-on-year growth of 35.34%. The total exports of alumina from China reached 2.5484 million tons, representing a year-on-year growth of 42.73%, and the cumulative imports to China were 1.1978 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 15.64%. China's net export of alumina was 1.3506 million tons.
By region, the top three provinces and municipalities in China in terms of industrial alumina output all exceeded 10 million tons. Among them, Shandong had the highest output of industrial alumina, reaching 32.1312 million tons, an increase of 8.54% year-on-year, accounting for 34.76% of the national total output. The output of Shanxi was 20.7194 million tons, increasing by 1.9% year-on-year. The output of Guangxi was 16.8418 million tons, increasing by 15.81% year-on-year.
The output of industrial alumina in Henan was 9.1764 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 2.00%. Guizhou's output increased by 15.97% year-on-year, reaching 6.1239 million tons. Chongqing's output was 4.8637 million tons, up by 6.11% year-on-year. The output of Yunnan was 1.34 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 5.82%. The output of Inner Mongolia was 1.0108 million tons, increasing by 194.35% year-on-year, with a significant growth. In addition, industrial alumina was produced in Gansu, Hubei, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Hebei and other places.
In 2025, China's industrial alumina was exported to 105 countries and regions, mainly to Russia and Indonesia. Among them, 2.0204 million tons were exported to Russia, accounting for 72.28% of the total export volume. 170,400 tons were exported to Indonesia. The export quantity to the remaining countries and regions were all below 80,000 tons.
China imports of industrial alumina were from 35 countries and regions, mainly from Australia, Indonesia, Vietnam and India. Among them, 494,900 tons were imported from Australia, 310,400 tons from Indonesia, 209,400 tons from Vietnam and 96,000 tons from India.
